A new idling stop system: Conventional idling stop systems restart a vehicle's engine with an electric motor; exactly the same way the engine is usually started. Using direct fuel injection techniques and optimized piston positioning, Mazda's unique ''i-STOP'' allows our cars to re-start almost instantly. This leads to a significant improvement in fuel economy.
Be the first to experience a world debut: Today's regenerative braking systems only capture energy when you brake. The Mazda6 doesn't stop there: i-ELOOP captures energy as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator and then stores it in a highly efficient capacitor instead of a battery. Mazda also found it was the fastest way to release energy back to the car's electrical system. i-ELOOP increases fuel economy by up to 10%.
Light weight & super safe: We've lowered the chassis in the Mazda6, improving comfort and increasing driving pleasure; redesigned and made the body lighter and all of this was achieved with a little help from ultra-high tensile steel which Mazda was the first to introduce in cars.

In the Mazda6 you can find a highly-efficient, six-speed automatic transmission that achieves excellent torque transfer efficiency, or a new-generation six-speed manual transmission with a light and crisp shift.

The new SKYACTIV-Body structure enhances the car's driving performance and gives you a better driving experience. How does it do this? We've used ultra-high tensile steel reinforcements to improve the rigidity of the body structure by around 30%. So as well as being stronger, the lighter body shell in our new generation cars reduces the car's overall weight.
So the combination of the increased rigidity and lightness makes the road handling more responsive and the car more agile to drive, improving the driving dynamics and giving you a more enjoyable driving experience.
Our SKYACTIV-D 2.2 litre diesel engine stands out among comparable engines by combining high maximum torque with low CO2 emissions.
SKYACTIV-G 2.0 litre is a refined, direct-injection petrol engine offering high fuel economy and the highest compression ratio among petrol engines. It's available with a 145 PS engine.
SKYACTIV-D 2.2 litre has the world's lowest compression ratio among diesel engines, with nimble acceleration that defies conventional diesel engines. Choose between 150 PS and 175 PS.
SKYACTIV-D 2.2 litre and SKYACTIV-G 2.0 are available with a six-speed automatic transmission. The SKYACTIV-G engine complies with Euro 5 emissions standards and the SKYACTIV-D engine complies with new Euro 6 emissions standards.
